Typically, androids take appearances not too dissimilar to humanoids in shape. Their bodies usually much bukier and larger than normal humanoids, but can very well be indistinguishable from normal aliens with larger form factors. Due to the lack of organic original matter to work with, their internals are all entirely mechanical or biomechanical, creating a dense internal system.
Born from the desire to create life using science, and the precursors to the infamous Bio-Androids, these beings are creatures of metal, born from steel and raised in fire, merely adopting a skin-suit that camouflages them into a species or race, despite lacking any DNA, cells, or anything remotely living. Their lives dominated by the ins and outs of mechanical artificial intelligence, they have yet to achieve a remote semblance of true sentience. Most Androids are constructed as part of projects as warriors, worker robots, or attempts to perfect the art of creating life.
